Draeseke, Felix August Bernhard Composers Composition Music
German Romantic composer Felix Draeseke (1835-1913) was considered by Brahms to stand with himself and Bruckner in ability for sacred and symphonic composition. Yet because of circumstances, including the changes in 20th century music, Draeseke's works became less known as time passed. His masterpiece is considered to be the oratorio Christus, a work that took five years to complete and takes five hours to perform.
