Atari 7800 VCS Family Atari Console Platforms
The Atari 7800 ProSystem was created in 1984 as the successor to the slightly unpopular Atari 5200. It was kept on the shelves and not released until 1986 to compete with the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The 7800 was based on Atari's 8 bit computer and boasts backwards compatibility with most Atari 2600 VCS games.
