Phantasy Star was published for the Sega Master System in 1988. It was also re-released on the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo Game Boy Advance as bundles with other Phantasy Star titles. In 2005, it was revamped and released in Japan for the PlayStation 2. It introduces the Algo Star System, specifically to the planets Parma, Motavia, and Dezoris.
