GMRS and FRS Radio Recreation
GMRS: The General Mobile Radio Service. A short to medium range two-way radio service for family communications in the UHF 462 MHz band. Both direct and repeater operation is available for family and personal communications on any of the 8 regular or 7 shared (with FRS) radio channels. An FCC license is required, and one license covers the entire family.FRS: Family Radio Service. A short range two-way radio service intended for family communication using the new 14 channel, low power FRS radios available nationwide. No FCC license is required, and anyone may use FRS within the United States.
