Elk Grove Localities California United States
"Elk abundant here" are among the earliest words written about Elk Grove. These words were written by Spanish explorers in 1807, who decided the area was too wet and marshy to start a mission on, and went elsewhere. On July 1, 2000, Elk Grove became the California's first new city of the millennium.
