Gillette, William Artists Famous Nutmeggers Society and Culture
Actor and playwright William Gillette (1853-1937) is best known in the stage role of Sherlock Holmes. He built a 24-room castle overlooking the Connecticut River in Hadlyme in 1919 which today is a museum and state park.
