Cuttyhunk Elizabeth Islands Gosnold Localities
Cuttyhunk is one the Elizabeth Islands in Massachusetts. It is the only island in the chain which is not privately owned.The Wampanoag tribe called the island Poccuohhunkkunnah. Most of the island is covered by scrub grass and woodlands. Its winter population numbers less than 100, and not much more than that in the summer. Although there is a small town at its east end, Cuttyhunk remains unspoiled and noncommercial.The island is a bird a wildlife preserve and popular anchorage spot for cruising yachts and sports fishing.
