Newton Localities Massachusetts United States
Newton is a city (population approximately 83,000), located just west of Boston, in Middlesex County in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Established as a town in 1691, and incorporated as a city in 1873, Newton is composed of 12 to 14 (depending on which source you believe) "villages" or neighborhoods. Sources agree on the following neighborhoods: Auburndale, Lower Falls, Newton Centre, Newton Corner, Newton Highlands, Newtonville, Nonantum, Oak Hill, Upper Falls, Waban and West Newton, and a part of Chestnut Hill (other portions of Chestnut Hill are located in the neighboring municipalities of Brookline and Boston). Most people also include Thompsonville, raising the total to 13, and many also add Four Corners or Oak Hill Park to reach 14.
