Liliopsida Magnoliophyta Plantae Flora and Fauna

The Liliopsida are the class of flowering plants traditionally classified as monocotyledons. The monocots produce a single seed leaf that pushes through the soil when they germinate as against the pair of seed leaves produced by dicots.
