US Embassy Bombings, 1998 Incidents Terrorism Issues
On August 7, 1998, a bomb exploded near the United States Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, killing 212 people -- twelve of which were Americans and 31 of which were Foreign Service Nationals -- and wounding 4,650 people. At almost the same time, a bomb exploded near the United States Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, killing eleven people, including seven Foreign Service Nationals from the Embassy, and wounding 72 others.
